Meet the Staff

  • Senior Pastor, REv. Dr. John Yenchko

    John was raised in a loving home in Pittsburgh, PA along with his twin sister Susan. He was active in a variety of academic, athletic and musical interests and graduated from Churchill area high school in 1975. Although he had some religious interest, it was not until his senior year of high school that John trusted Christ and prayed to Him, inviting Him to become the Savior and Lord of his life. John attended the University of Virginia to study liberal arts, received his Master of Divinity degree and earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Westminster. In April of 1984 John began his pastoral ministry at New Life Church, serving on the staff with Jack Miller, and then becoming the pastor of the church in 1987, serving this growing church through May of 2003. John and his wife, Nina, have two children, Andrew and Charlotte, both of whom made their profession of faith and have joined the church. John has a passion for church planting and serves with the NY Metro Presbytery Mission and Church Plant Committee. He also has a commitment to missions, serving on the board of World Harvest Mission. His personal interests include making new friends, playing ping pong, listening to music, aerobic exercise, and eating rich food.

  • Assistant Pastor, Rev. Martin Han

    We recently welcomed Martin to our church in the position of assistant pastor. Martin was born in Queens, NY.  He graduated from the US Air Force Academy, was commissioned as an officer and served in the USAF for six years. He then graduated from Westminster Theological Seminary and pastored at Jubilee Presbyterian Church outside of Philadelphia. Prior to joining North Shore, Martin shepherded the English-speaking Eunhae Presbyterian Church in Little Neck. He also currently works for the Department of Defense as a Contracts Administrator.  He is married to Kimberly and is father to Abigail Noel, Ethan Martin and Isaac.

  • Director Christian Education, Rev. Tae Cho

    Tae Cho was born in Seoul, Korea and was immigrated to the states when he was nine.  He first lived in Elmhurst N.Y. then moved to Northern New Jersey during high school.  He graduated from Philadelphia Biblical University with a Bible/Youth Ministry degree, and then graduated from Westminster Theological Seminary with a Master of Divinity.  While he was in seminary he was a pastoral intern at Jubilee Presbyterian Church as college and youth group for three years.  Upon graduating from seminary he joined pastoral staff at the First Korean Church of Brooklyn as English ministry pastor/youth pastor, overseeing Education Department.  He is happily married to Wisdom and is father to Enoch, Chole and Asher.  Tae’s hobbies includes: snowboarding, basketball, football, ultimate freebie, baseball, and rollerblading.  He is a diehard Yankees fan.

    Todd joined the church staff and his family renewed their memberships at North Shore Community Church in June of 2019. Todd had previously been a deacon at NSCC before moving to Asia with his family where he volunteered at his church, helping them rebuild their website and improve their communications, he additionally volunteered at International Care Ministries, assisting them in developing their database. Upon returning to the US, Todd started leading men’s groups and found this work rewarding, later changing careers to join NSCC. Todd attended the University of Nebraska, where he studied advertising. Todd is currently working on a degree in addiction counseling through Liberty University Online. Todd and Andrea, his wife, have two children, Lauren is attending college in Boston, Luke is in high school. Todd enjoys working in his garden, baking, and traveling. Todd is thankful to be part of the NSCC church staff and looks forward to serving as a church administrator.

  • Director OF Worship MINISTRY, Charles AlvArEnga


    Charles joined the NSCC staff in October of 2019 and became a member in November of the same year. Over the past seven years, Charles has served as a worship leader in churches throughout Long Island and NYC. He studied vocal performance at Nassau Community College and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Music degree in vocal performance and minor in biblical studies from Nyack College in NYC. Charles’ passion is to lead the church in singing songs that cause the word of Christ to dwell in us richly, with joy and thanksgiving to God. He enjoys going to the beach, watching movies(especially period pieces), reading and best of all the company of his lovely wife, Stephanie. Charles looks forward to serving and growing in the knowledge of Christ’s love with the NSCC family.

  • Thrift Store Director, Karen Connolly

    Karen has been blessed to be used by God to facilitate the running of the Hope for Long Island Thrift Store.  She attended Concordia College in Bronxville, where she majored in mathematics education.  She taught for 13 years before being called to the higher job of home making. Presently, she manages to direct a wonderful staff of volunteers, of which you could be a part!

  • Food Pantry director, Patricia Watsula

    Patricia has been attending North Shore Community Church since 2000.  She began volunteering at the Food Pantry shortly thereafter and became director of the pantry in 2015.  Patricia’s background is in elementary and adult education. She has held various positions in both training and in corporate management.  As well as managing the Food Pantry, Patricia is involved in several other North Shore activities.
