Do you ever need a prayer to start your day?

I find this one from John Calvin centers me and prepares me to live for Him. Maybe you would pray it, too.

1-Almighty God and Father, it is only by your unmerited grace and upholding power that I am still here, preserved from the beginning of my life through the years to the present day.

2-Since by your mercy and because of your wisdom another day has been added to my life, I now expectantly dedicate myself—soul and body—to work in love, to all day serve your glory and the good of my neighbors rather than myself.

3- As you made your sun rise to give our world light, now may your Holy Spirit give clarity to my understanding and warmth and tenderness to my heart.

4-And Lord, as I grow in age today, let me also grow in grace, in fellowship and communion with you.

5-As I lay down in sleep and rose this morning only by your grace, keep me in a joyful, lively remembrance that whatever happens, I will someday know my final rising—the resurrection-- because Jesus Christ lay down in death for me, and rose for my justification.
